Welcome

An analytical mind is as much of a curse as it is a blessing. I have found that few things bring ridicule as quickly as questioning accepted ideas. My goal with this blog is to have a place where I can write my thoughts on politics, religion, life, human nature and whatever else I feel like analyzing. I am an ex-mormon who is now an atheist.

Introduction

The introduction is the hardest part for me, but also necessary for people to understand where I am coming from. A few quick things that define me:
  • I am 28.
  • I am married with one child and one on the way
  • I play bass guitar
  • I grew up in the Mormon church and was a missionary in Venezuela
  • I left the church and view the idea of god and religion as absurd. Since I don't have a theism I would be classified as an atheist, but I do not like the term due to the preconceptions people have of atheists.
  • I am a vegetaian
  • I follow politics and how the world functions.
  • I try to use reason and logic to navigate through life and am always willing to hear a smart argument that challenges what I believe.
I am creating this blog to give myself a place to write down and share the ideas that are constantly running through my mind, but are things I can't discuss with most of my family and friends (Luckily, I can discuss anything with my wife :)).

I do not intend to offend anyone, but I know that I will. When discussing religion or politics you will almost always offend others. I will be frank, honest, and try to be as logical as I can.
